Savage is in Scott County, Minnesota, and is bordered to the east by the city of Burnsville, to the west by the cities of Shakopee and Prior Lake, and on the south by Credit River Township. Previously named Hamilton after a city in Ontario, Canada, the town was renamed Savage after Marion Willis Savage, who owned and trained the nationally celebrated racing horse Dan Patch.
The Savage Rotary, with its 21 members, is involved in activities such as collecting quality used furniture and household goods to donate to Bridging, Inc., Savage-based park cleanups and beautification projects, and annual sponsorship of Armful of Love families. Their signature fund-raising project is a wine tasting event held in conjunction with Dan Patch Days in June.
The Savage Chamber of Commerce was established as a nonprofit, volunteer organization. It seeks to unite business and professional people who are dedicated to the ongoing development and support of business activities, industrial opportunities, and civic enhancement of the Savage area. The Chamber offers its members a variety of events and programs that offer networking, training and social opportunities throughout the year. In addition to its involvement with local businesses and government, the Chamber works directly with the community in a variety of ways.
The Chamber serves as a primary source of information for residents and businesses. The Chamber has made donations to significant community projects and events including Dan Patch Historical Society, scholarships and high schools. The Chamber has over 225 members, represented by over 400 individuals from local businesses, education, government and other various affiliations.
Apple Valley
Apple Valley was incorporated in 1969, and is the 18th most populous city in Minnesota. In 2010, Money Magazine named Apple Valley the 20th best place to live in the United States.
Burnsville
Burnsville is located 15 miles south of downtown Minneapolis and is part of Dakota County. Burnsville is the sixth-largest suburb in the metro area.
Lakeville
As the southern gateway to the Twin Cities, Lakeville offers the advantages of living near a metropolitan area while providing a family-friendly atmosphere with outstanding recreational opportunities.
Prior Lake
Seen as the sister city of Shakopee, Prior Lake is one of the oldest southern metro cities and is 20 miles southwest of downtown Minneapolis in Scott County in Minnesota.
